The Coral Springs High School girls soccer team is off and running in the District Playoffs after picking up a 4-0 win over Deerfield Beach High School.
The Colts finished the regular season with an 8-7-1 record ending Deerfield Beach High School’s season after going 1-11.
Hannah Shay recorded two goals and had an assist on the Colts’ second goal scored by Kaylee Salvatierra. Andrea Orjuela scored once while Brianna McDonald had two assists. Gabi Stubbs had a shutout in net.
“The high energy we have been looking for all year really showed to start tonight’s game, said Head Coach Mike Guardino. “If we play with that intensity, we are as tough an out as there is.”
Next, CSHS plays Coral Glades in the District Semifinals on Thursday, January 26, at 4 p.m. The Jaguars had a bye in the opening round as they went 6-8-1 this season to earn the second seed.
These two teams did not meet in the regular season this year. They last played to a 2-2 draw in 2021. The winner of this game plays the winner of Marjory Stoneman Douglas and J.P. Taravella’s semifinals match.
