Aaron Winnick is starting his dream job as a Coral Springs-Parkland firefighter.
“I completed my firefighter training at Palm Beach State College, and I am glad to be here. This is a great department, and I feel loved here,” said Winnick, age 23.
He was among 19 firefighters hired by the Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department. They are all graduates of fire academies and fully trained as firefighters, EMTs, and paramedics. After completing an eight-week orientation with Coral Springs, they began their careers on October 6.

Eduardo Chessa, age 24, loves his new job and his colleagues. “I worked as a paramedic before becoming a firefighter. I love it here and I am having a positive experience,” he said.
This recent group of firefighters is the third-largest in the department’s history, according to Lieutenant Mike Farmer, president of the Coral Springs Professional Firefighters Benevolent Association.
“We have a good group of firefighters who have completed a demanding training program. They have gone through two and a half years of training. We hired a large group because there are more demands on our department and our population is growing,” said Farmer.
