The Coral Glades High School Army JROTC program hosted a robotics workshop on October 25.
Students from local JROTC battalions, including Monarch and Piper, participated in the day-long event, spending the day building and improving VEX robots. These are robots that high school and university students build and program to compete in.
Representatives from technology companies often meet with students at national and international competitions. The cadets construct and program the robots to perform various tasks and to compete in games similar to hockey.
“I enjoy working on robots and driving them. Today we worked together on building the robots,” said Captain Saniya Williams, a senior in the Coral Glades JROTC.

The Monarch JROTC program brought a larger group of students who spent the day working on building a VEX robot. “We had a productive day and worked on designing and building a robot. I think we finally got it to work well,” said Captain Callan Kolb.
