Coral Springs Teacher Wins $1,000 Worth of Classroom Supplies from OfficeMax

A teacher from Ramblewood Elementary in Coral Springs received a surprise during class on Tuesday when two OfficeMax representatives awarded him $1,000 worth of classroom supplies.
David Mankes, was teaching his 5th grade students, when Principal Maria Perez escorted representatives of OfficeMax into his classroom wheeling in two large boxes with supplies as well as a new comfortable chair.
Perez chose Mankes "Because he is a very innovative teacher that incorporates technology, science, and math into his lessons and plays academic games with his class." She also adds that Mankes is their textbook coordinator who also runs their robotics club. Last year, his students went to competition at Poinciana Elementary in Palm Beach County and she says he’s trying to bring the competition to Ramblewood.
Five other Broward County Public School Teachers also received a surprise visit from OfficeMax representatives as part of the annual OfficeMax “A Day Made Better advocacy program to help erase teacher-funded classrooms. Local winners were among 1,000 teachers nationally who were nominated by their principals for demonstrating passion, dedication and innovation in the classroom.
