Coral Springs Charter was the lone volleyball team in the city to qualify for the Big-8 Tournament, featuring the top eight schools in Broward County. At the same time, they had another player officially commit.
The Panthers, though, were faced with a tough opening-round matchup and lost to Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory. The Raiders went on to eventually lose in the final against St. Thomas Aquinas High School, the team the Panthers will play in their next match.
During the match, Samantha McMillan recorded nine of the team’s 23 kills. Olivia Greco led the way with four aces and also had 10 blocks. Defensively, Keisha Julie and McMillan each had a block, with 10 combined digs between them.
CSC went on to lose their next match on Wednesday against St. Thomas Aquinas High School on Tuesday, October 7, at 5:30 p.m. before closing out the regular season with Fort Lauderdale and Westminster Academy.
McMillan is set to play at American University. She is playing her fifth year of volleyball with the Panthers and has 894 kills. She has added 282 digs, 112 blocks, and six aces while her team has won 38 matches in her career, including 13 so far during her senior year.

Coral Springs High School beat Piper High School in five sets, 25-23, 25-20, 25-11. , 25-21, 17-15 for their third win of the season. They will play Coral Glades on Wednesday, October 8, at 4:30 p.m. The Jaguars had a three-set victory over Hallandale High School earlier this week, 25-20, 25-10, 25-15, to improve to 5-8. They will face both Hollywood Hills and Charles W. Flanagan High School before that match with CSHS.
J.P. Taravella also beat Hallandale High School in three sets, 25-20, 25-10, 25-15, and is 10-7 this year. They will close the regular season with matches against Fort Lauderdale, McArthur, and Pompano Beach High School.
