Family Bagels of Long Island will permanently close its Coral Springs location.
The restaurant, located at 5906 Coral Ridge Dr., was formerly known as Westside Bagels. It initially closed in 2019 following the unexpected death of owner Geoffrey Lichtman. It later reopened as Family Bagels of Long Island under new ownership by Long Island native Neal Schatt and South Florida business partner Steve Corn.
Family Bagels of Long Island has been known locally for its New York–style bagels and breakfast offerings.
On Facebook, Family Bagels released a statement:
“Dear Family,
After ten wonderful years, we’ve made the difficult decision to close our store. From our early days serving Cooper City and Coconut Creek customers to the incredible community we’ve built here, this journey has been nothing short of amazing. Over the years, your support helped shape our store into a true community, and we are incredibly proud of what we built together.
As many of you know, the food business is extremely time-consuming as our doors have been open 365 days a year. This has made it challenging to spend quality time with our families, and after careful consideration, we’ve decided it’s time to step back and focus on what matters most.
We want to express our deepest gratitude for your support, loyalty, and friendship over the years. You’ve been more than customers, you’ve been part of our family and our community. Every smile and every conversation has meant a lot to us. Thank you for being with us on this journey. We’ll always remember the people who made this place special.
Wishing you all a happy and healthy 2026!”
