A former Coral Springs Police Explorer has completed his transformation from a teenager interested in public service to a sworn law enforcement officer, graduating at the top of his police academy class.
Officer Julian Rodriguez recently graduated from the Tampa Police Department’s Hillsborough College LEA 26-01 Police Academy, earning the highest academic ranking in his class along with his police badge, according to CSPD Explorer Post 276.
Rodriguez’s path toward a career in law enforcement began in Coral Springs when he joined the Coral Springs Police Explorer Program at age 15.
He remained an active and dedicated member of the program until aging out at 21, spending six years learning about police work, leadership, discipline, and community service, according to a Facebook post by the explorer program highlighting Rodriguez’s achievements.
The Explorer program introduces young people to careers in law enforcement while helping them develop practical leadership skills and prepare for future professional opportunities.
Rodriguez’s academy graduation reflects the Explorer program’s mission of preparing young people to succeed in law enforcement and other public service careers, allowing them to develop valuable leadership skills with help from local law enforcement, program leaders said.
“His journey from a local teenager into a sworn officer is a testament to the core mission of our program: preparing young leaders to excel in whatever path they choose,” the program’s Facebook post said.
