During one of the most trying years in history, Gyroville in Coral Springs has a reason to celebrate.
The location just passed an incredible milestone by celebrating its first anniversary in business, and they plan to offer their customers $3 gyros as a thank you for the tremendous support from the community.
Looking back on early 2020, the pending opening of Gyroville in Coral Springs was the talk of the town. The owners were already residents of the city, and as business owners, customers were eager to throw their support behind them. When they finally opened their doors for business in May 2020, during the height of a pandemic, the community lined up (socially distanced) to show their support and make sure they would save and ensure that this small business thrived.
Maria Rodriguez, franchisee and owner of the Coral Springs location, along with her husband Irving, thought they had seen it all when they lived and worked through the tragedy of 9/11.
“When the pandemic hit, we were devastated as our restaurant was moments from the grand opening when the city locked down all businesses,” said Maria.
The retired NYPD couple were literally planning their Grand Opening celebration in March 2020 when an Executive Order was issued closing all restaurants for dine-in service. They knew that a Grand Opening without customers inside the business would be a challenge.
So, they waited, and they planned.
A few weeks later, restrictions were loosened, and restaurants could offer take-out and delivery options to their guests.
“With all the hype surrounding this location and our connection with the community, we decided to open our doors while donating a portion of the receipts to first responders,” said Irving.
People really missed eating out after being locked down for so many weeks, he said, and customers were excited to be eating in a new restaurant that serves fresh, healthy meals.”

Lambros Kokkinelis, Founder and CEO of Gyroville. said they were extremely proud of Maria and Irving and the work they have put into the Coral Springs location.
“They have really embraced the brand and have become ambassadors to the community,” he said. “The relationships they have built with the community demonstrate how important it is to participate and give back at the same time. Their rewards have been the success of the location.”
