The City of Coral Springs is inviting high school students to leave their creative mark on local history with the launch of the 2026 Coral Springs Historical Calendar Art Contest.
Open to all high school students residing in Coral Springs, the Coral Springs Historical Calendar Art Contest seeks original artwork that captures the city’s spirit, heritage, and identity. The selected works will be featured in the city’s annual calendar, with each chosen piece representing one of 12 monthly themes tied to community milestones, events, and traditions.
Contest rules state that students can submit up to one artwork per month’s theme and are encouraged to enter as many themes as they like. Each theme will have up to five submissions reviewed for final selection.
The monthly themes range from January’s “Local History,” featuring landmarks like the Covered Bridge or Historical Museum, to December’s “Holiday Spirit,” focusing on traditions such as the city’s holiday parade and luminaria-lined driveways. Other themes include “Serving the Community,” “New Beginnings,” “Nature & Sustainability,” and “Hometown Pride,” among others.
Students are required to submit original, high-resolution artwork, accompanied by a brief artist statement of 150–300 words. The statement should explain the inspiration behind the piece, its relation to the theme, and how it reflects the history of Coral Springs.
Submissions must be emailed in digital format (JPEG, PNG, TIFF, or PDF) at a resolution of 300–600 dpi. Only original artwork will be accepted. AI-generated or copied works are not eligible.
The final calendar will also feature a “Best in Show” cover selection, chosen from among all submissions to highlight one standout piece.
