
J.P. Taravella Swim Team {David Volz}
Members of the J.P. Taravella boys’ and girls’ swimming teams are preparing for the upcoming regional swim meet.
Several Taravella swimmers recently learned that they qualified as individuals at the district meet on October 28 at the Coral Springs Aquatic Complex.
In the girls’ division, AnAlysse McComie-Waterman qualified in the 100-meter backstroke, 200-meter freestyle relay, and 400-meter freestyle relay. Melanie Sanchez qualified in the 200-meter freestyle, 100-meter backstroke, 200-meter freestyle relay, and 400-meter freestyle relay. Vicky Sosa qualified in the 200-meter freestyle relay and 400-meter freestyle relay. Morgan Thomas qualified in the 200-meter freestyle, 100-meter backstroke, 200-meter freestyle relay, and 400-meter freestyle relay.
In the boys’ division, Josh DeSouza qualified in the 50-meter freestyle, 100-meter freestyle relay, and 400-meter freestyle relay. Jayden Simms qualified in the 200-meter freestyle relay and 400-meter freestyle relay. Zane Samms qualified in the 200-meter freestyle, 100-meter butterfly, 200-meter freestyle relay, and 400-meter freestyle relay. Devenier Thomas qualified in the 200-meter freestyle relay and the 400-meter freestyle relay.
In the disability category, Cole Youngblood qualified in the 50-meter freestyle and 100-meter freestyle.
Coach Candy Allen said she was proud of the effort the Taravella swimmers have made this fall.
