The J.P. Taravella High School swim team continues to move along and prepare for the upcoming district competition.
During the October 11 BCAA county championship in Plantation, the team competed well. Zane Samms finished in the top ten in the 100-meter freestyle and the 200-meter freestyle, and Josh DeSouza was in the top ten in the 50-meter freestyle and 100-meter freestyle. In the girls’ division, Morgan Thomas was in the top ten in the 100-meter backstroke, according to coach Candy Allen.
“Our swimmers have been working hard, and now we are preparing for the district meet,” said Allen.
Taravella will participate in the district meet on October 28 at 9:00 a.m. at the Coral Springs Aquatic Complex.
This year, there will be a category for disabled swimmers in the 50-meter freestyle and 100-meter freestyle at the district and regional competitions. Cole Youngblood, a Taravella swimmer with autism, is looking forward to participating in those races and said he loves swimming.
Youngblood is proud of his swimming efforts and believes he will perform well in the district competition.
