A Coral Springs resident, attorney, and city commission candidate is making moves at the state level.
In January, Khurrum Wahid was appointed to serve on the Federal Magistrate Judge Merit Selection Panel for the U.S. Southern District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
The announcement comes as two federal magistrate judges prepare to leave the bench. Judge Lurana S. Snow will retire on May 31, while Judge Chris M. McAliley will retire on Jan. 20, 2023.
Under panel chair Irene Oria, Wahid will join 11 other members to select candidates to fill the judicial vacancies.

They returned in 2010 and have been residents for 12 years. In 2019, Wahid ran unsuccessfully in the special election to fill the commission seat after Dan Daley announced his bid for State House.

According to his website, he earned his juris doctor at Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego and is licensed to practice law in Florida, New York, and several federal, district, and appellate courts.
