Just about everyone in Coral Springs knows Larry’s. The ice cream shop has been around forever – but its large array of treats have grown by a mile since the McGinnis Family took ownership in June.
The ice cream “parlour”, modeled after the 1950s/60s era, continues to offer all the classic flavors but has since created new ones, like Red Velvet Cake, Chocolate Raspberry Truffle, Cake N Batter, GrapeNut, and Dulce de Leche.
“I have loved baking and have had a passion for sweets all my life. I am constantly coming up with new ideas and desserts,” said Janet McGinnis co-owner, along with her husband, Patrick.
The couple’s daughter, Jaimie, Director of Marketing, is helping Larry’s achieve its sweet dreams. The ice cream parlour has grown to include a full lunch menu and host events, from baby and bridal showers to fundraisers.
The menu has expanded too. Larry’s now serves food from opening to close, offering Meatball Parm specials, Tortellini Salad, Disco Fries, Mozzarella Sticks, and more.
For Janet and Patrick, both of Coral Springs, it seemed like kismet when they saw Larry’s go up for sale this summer.
“My husband and I have dreamed of owning an ice cream shop since we met. We saw Larry’s was for sale, and we knew that this was what we were meant to do, and we moved forward on the opportunity without hesitation.”
McGinnis added that their shop promotes @larrysicecream across social media, and recently partnered with Paragon Theaters in Coral Springs.
“Guests can bring a paid Larry’s receipt to Paragon and receive a small free popcorn, and can bring a paid movie stub to Larry’s and get a BOGO ice cream scoop,” McGinnis said, adding that she is excited about their Grand reopening event on Saturday, September 29.
“We will have caricature artists, balloon artists, face painting, photo ops, and tons of goodies,” McGinnis said, elaborating that the event will usher in a wonderful new era of Larry’s Ice Cream.
Ice Cream purists can count on all the fan favorites still in the freezer; these include but are not limited to Smurf, Birthday Cake, Purple Daze, Superman, and Cotton Candy. One new item at Larry’s is edible cookie dough, which can be served on its own in a cup or cone, or on top of any flavor of ice cream.
The McGinnises also want you to know they now have soft-serve chocolate ice cream.
So, what are you waiting for? Come pick up a menu and see all the delicious things in store. Larry’s Ice Cream, in the same location since 1986, is at 749 N University Drive, Coral Springs. Special events can be arranged by contacting Jaime McGinnis at 561-512-4434 or emailing her at jaimie@larrysicecreamandyogurt.com.
