The legend continues to grow with Coral Springs Charter Mark Montimurro, who officially won his 600th career game on Wednesday.
The win came in the Big-Eight Semifinals against Cardinal Gibbons High School, 7-0, for the team’s 21st win of the season. Still, Montimurro is focused on the team, bringing back another State Championship and winning number 601, which would win a Big-Eight Championship.
“Not really a milestone number, to be honest,” Montimurro said. “Just happy to still be coaching some good players and maintaining a solid program over all these years.”
The Panthers are set to play in the Big-Eight Final against Western High School. CSC won their first game 2-0 against South Plantation High School behind a complete game shutout from Courtney Wahlbrink. Addison Michel and Stephanie Basso recorded RBIs before Wahlbrink tossed six hitless innings in their win over Cardinal Gibbons. Gia Schirripa threw the final inning to record the shutout.
First pitch for the final is scheduled for Thursday, April 25 at 6 p.m. The Wildcats beat Marjory Stoneman Douglas and West Broward High School to make the final. They are 20-3 this year but lost 6-0 in their only meeting against CSC this season.
