Gianna Reich, from Coral Springs, has officially announced her commitment to play college soccer at the University of South Florida.
While the journey has been tough at times, Reich, who attends Marjory Stoneman Douglas, said that the support of her family, teammates, and coaches helped her reach the goal of playing at the collegiate level.
“Committing feels like a mix of excitement and responsibility,” Reich said. “It’s a promise to dedicate yourself fully to something or someone, which can be both rewarding and challenging. However, I am extremely excited for my upcoming journey at USF.”
Reich began playing soccer when she was four and played on various youth teams before progressing to competitive clubs such as Weston FC and Florida United. When looking at where to play in college, she wanted to find a place for growth and development at a strong academic school. Reich also established a strong connection with players and coaches at USF and liked the overall atmosphere of the campus and community.
With one more year left before going to college, Reich is fine-tuning her technical skills, increasing her fitness level, and enhancing her tactical understanding of the game. She also hopes to improve the mental aspects of the game, such as staying focused under pressure and being a strong team player.
