The postseason is underway in multiple sports, with athletes from Coral Springs competing in the District Tournament.
Coral Springs Charter played at the Country Club of Coral Springs on Monday. Brandon Moll recorded the best score, a 97, and finished in 28. He was joined by Floyd Harris, Edward Canard, Troy Sova, and Jordan Herman. Natalie Conte placed 18th for the girls. Isabella Goodman finished two spots back.
BCAA Champion Bianca Gibbs came in second, shooting a 75, while Shannon Glynn was one shot back and came in third. The boys team was led by Carter Brooks, shooting a 77 and placing seventh. Noah Rosen came in 16th with an 84, followed by Bradley Pryor and Sebastian Ortiz.
Coral Glades had their boys and girls, who had 200-yard medley and 400-yard freestyle teams, qualify for Regionals. BCAA champion Ethan Persten had another incredible performance and qualified in multiple events, while Galen Tortorella and Benjamin Denevi each qualified for two individual events. The girls will have Nikki Harrypersad competing in two races.
J.P. Taravella qualified for two relays, with Zane Samms and Zac Bricher making it an individual race. Lenin Hamilton and Michael Michalek will also compete at Regional, while the girls team qualified for three relays. Mariana Sanchez and Rawani Ceballos earned their spots in two races, along with Valentina Ordonez in one.
Sammy Carvajal qualified for Coral Springs High School in the 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke. The Colts also had their senior day postponed. Still, they recognized Titus Johnson, Jaylyn Samuels, Ashley Made-Rosas, Peter Phan, Haozhen Yuon, James Defreitas, Joshua Demetrius, and Charles Kramer during their practice on Oct. 25.
For Coral Springs Charter, the girls’ team qualified in all three relays and was led individually by Alejandra Gil-Restrepo, who won the 500-yard freestyle. She will be going to regionals along with Mariana Montes, Addison Palumbo, Alejandra Gil Reestrepo, Amanda Palumbo, Claire O’Connor, Molly Chaison, Sam Springer, Mariana Montes, Amanda Robins, and Anabel Holt.
The boys also qualified in three relays while John Albornoz won the 200-yard IM and Anthony Palumbo took first in the 100-yard backstroke.
Brian Hamilton, Christopher Chaison, Sebastian Rincon Villegas, Gavin Mello, Sebastian Rincon-Villegas, Juan Lopez, Will Wizst, Gavin Mello, and Anthony Palumbo are all headed to Regionals.
In cross country, the J.P. Taravella boys’ team took first place at South Country Regional Park. Scardy Fils was the lone Trojan to place in the top ten, but they also had Elijas Vessels finish 11th, and Akeem Beckford placed 13th. Craig Dennis and Dominic Martinez came in the top 25, followed by Ali Mustafa, JahRee Pierre, Nakhai Reid, Akeil Kidd, and Saul Flores.
The girls team came in ninth, with Raquel Arne also placing ninth individually. She ran along with 27 Olivia Noel, Giavanna Lionelli, Camille Castillo and Meital Pavolotzky.
Jeffrey Belizaire came first in the boy’s race for Coral Springs High School, while the team came in fifth. Matthew Wykpisz placed fourth, while Marcus Gentilhomme finished 16th. Tyler Cline, Magnus Berta, and David Doreus all ran, with the girls finishing ninth, led by Olivia Higgins. Gabriella Gentilhomme placed 21st, followed by Lydia Gentilhomme, Destinee Cole, and Natalia Cuevas.
The Coral Glades boys team came in 15th with Aaron Hilaire, Jordan Blaise, Joel Harrigan, Kai Segui, Quincy Ocasio, and Evan Hall. The girls finished 12th behind Mariana Ortega, Zariya Louis-Jeune, Angel Sanon, Emmie Guzman, and Maya Frias.
Coral Springs Charter ran in a different district race, but also shined with the girls coming in fourth, Kendall Parrott was third to finish followed by Lily Richardson, Cecilia Kozlowski, Alyson Thomas, Sydney McDougall, Mackenzie Maniscalso, Hailey Lockwitz, Taylor Hartley, Brooke Schwartz and Anabella Thornberry.
The boys came in 11th, with Lucas Werth recording the best time. Jordan Head was also impressed, racing along with Austin Stewart, Brandon Martinez, Tommy Foster, Shaun Blum, Shivam Rangoo Mason Grech, Cole Wollenberg, and Beylian De Jesus.
