Local High Schools Make 2017 “America’s Most Challenging Schools” List

The results are in and Broward County Public Schools have earned their place as 2017’s “America’s Most Challenging High Schools.”

Compiled each year by The Washington Post, the list measures how successfully schools provide access to advanced college-level coursework and challenge their students academically.

Making the top 500 this year is: Cypress Bay High School, 174, Pompano Beach High School, 237, and Nova High School, 306.

In Coral Springs and Parkland are Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, 556, Coral Glades High School, 1106, JP Taravella, 1247, Coral Springs High School, 1,683, and Coral Springs Charter School, 2,327.

In all, 25 Broward County Public Schools high schools earned a placement greater than 2,300 out of all 23,000 U.S. public high schools evaluated. Only 12 percent of high schools nationwide made the 2017 list.
