With 330 stores in 26 states, Pet Supplies Plus, known for its wide array of pet goods, grooming services, animal expertise will soon have a Coral Springs location in 2016.
The new location, at 9100 Wiles Road in Royal Eagle Plaza will be part of a franchise agreement with local entrepreneurs Paulo and Juliana Lucchesi and will be the sixth Pet Supplies Plus in the market.
Founded in 1988, Pet Supplies Plus stands out in the segment by offering pets and pet parents a wide array of toys, equipment and Made-in-the-USA pet consumables such as wet and dry foods, treats, rawhide, chews and more. Pet Supplies Plus of Coral Springs will also feature a self-service dog wash and a full menu of grooming services tailored to every pet’s needs including haircuts, full body brushing, flea treatment, and nail, skin, ear and oral care.
The newly signed franchise partners indicated they chose to open a Pet Supplies Plus based on the brand’s admirable reputation, as well as having seen the local consumer demand increase for quality pet goods and services. In total, 68 percent of U.S. households own a pet (equating for 82.5 million homes), and the industry is projected to surpass the 60 million dollar mark by the end of 2015. The husband and wife entrepreneurial team, who are originally from Brazil, currently live in Boca Raton and is eager to join the Coral Springs business community.
“We’ve seen the incredible increase in demand for pet goods in the area and we look forward to creating a fun shopping experience for all of our neighbors, focused on high-quality customer service and great value,” said Franchise Owner Paulo Lucchesi. “My wife and I can’t wait to meet all of local pets and get to know them by name.”
In addition to offering local pets quality products and knowledgeable insight from a highly-trained staff, the new pet center will benefit the community by bringing about 10-20 new jobs to town and approximately $250,000 in local development contracts. The Coral Springs expansion is part of an overall growth strategy for the company to open 20 additional stores in the South Florida area through partnering with the franchise owners in the market.
“While we’re poised for major growth, we’re focused on expanding the right way by partnering with business savvy franchise partners who share an enthusiasm for pets and a dedication to becoming an integral part of the community,” said David Leonardo, Senior Vice President of Franchising.
Founded on the idea that convenient, quality service for busy neighbors was lacking in the pet industry, retail veterans, Jack Berry and Harry Shallop, opened the first Pet Supplies Plus store in Redford, Michigan. Since then, the neighborhood-style pet store has become a household name in 26 states.
