Visit the Coral Springs Museum of Art for the exhibit of art photographer and video installation artist Cheryl Maeder.
The core of her work has always been about “connection,” the innate connection to the self, each other, and all other life forms on this planet.
Born in Elmwood Park, New Jersey, in her early 20s, she moved to Zurich, Switzerland, where she studied photography at the Zurich University of the Arts. After eight years, she returned to the U.S. and opened a photography studio in San Francisco, where she photographed international advertising and fashion campaigns.
Maeder transitioned from photographing fashion models to photographing real women, celebrating women’s beauty in all shapes and sizes. Her work became the inspiration for the Dove Campaign on Real Women, Real Beauty, which transformed the way women are viewed in the global media.
In 2005, she relocated her studio to the Miami area and deeply immersed herself in fine art photography and filmmaking.
Maeder’s exhibit is on display through March 6, 2021, highlighting her newest series, “Super Natural,” a collection of images that evoke a mysterious, lyrical world through the interplay of color and light.
