Women and teen girls in Coral Springs will have an opportunity to learn practical, real-world safety skills as the Coral Springs Police Department hosts a free, two-hour self-defense class designed to build confidence, awareness, and preparedness.
Held on Monday, March 23, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., the two-hour class is open to women ages 13 and older and will be taught by experienced police officers. The training focuses on practical, real-life safety skills designed to help participants better protect themselves and avoid dangerous situations.
During the session, attendees will learn strategies to enhance situational awareness, techniques to escape uncomfortable encounters, and gain insight into current crime trends in the area. Officers will also share tips to help participants recognize and avoid potentially risky situations before they escalate.
The class combines discussion with easy-to-learn self-defense moves in a fun, energetic, noncompetitive and safe learning environment. No prior experience is required, and participants work at their own pace.
Participants are encouraged to wear sneakers and bring water.
Space is limited, and registration is required. Those interested must complete a release and waiver form in advance and email it to policetraining@coralsprings.gov before the start date.
