The high school boys volleyball season is officially underway in Coral Springs, highlighted by several competitive early matchups, including a city showdown between J.P. Taravella and Coral Springs Charter.
The Trojans came away with a straight-set victory, winning 25–14, 25–12, 25–16, as the Panthers fell to 0–2 on the young season after previously losing to Pompano Beach High School earlier in the week.
J.P. Taravella features Dylan Parker, Gordon Severe, Alessandro Parra, Wildy Charles, Miguel Arcila, Jayvian Salvatierra, Sangeeth Vathielil, Fabian Bolivar, Joel Ramirez, Alexander Chaves, Anthony Sanches, and Aramis Delgado. The Trojans will continue play this week with matches scheduled against American Heritage, Piper, and Monarch High School.
Coral Springs Charter finished 8–16 last season and features Alejandro Gutierrez, Marlon Certuche, Jay Carter Wong, Jaxson George, Colin Dase, Bryan Kiley, Marshall Dase, Landon Russo, Cayden Marcey, Emmanuel Romero, and Luke Snider. The Panthers will next face Charles W. Flanagan High School on Thursday, February 26, at 4:30 p.m.
Coral Springs High School did not take the court but earned a victory over Boyd H. Anderson High School via forfeit. The Colts roster includes Miguel Jumpp, Princeton Munroe Jr., Greg Hamilton, O’Shane Dennis, Daziano Barrett-Daly, Kylen Scott, Isaac Maldonado, James Matis, Ayden Ford, Geison Garcia, Adrian Jimenez, Zachary Majdoch, Elijah Mingo, Jose Salas, Khang Le, Jayden Thomas, Allen Peralta, Jack Thompson, Marcus Croissy, Christopher Flores, and Julian Toledo. Coral Springs will return to action Thursday, February 26, at 6 p.m. against Deerfield Beach High School.
Coral Glades dropped its season opener in straight sets, falling 25–21, 25–23, 25–20. The Jaguars feature Deion Hendrickson, Cole Fisher, Kauan Fernandes, Dominic Sorrentino, Daniel Avelar, Dominic Hemingway, Konnor Cappiello, Axel Liriano, Gustavo Suarez, David Lopez, David Ngo, Jaaziel Montero, Cordel Bowford, and Daniel Burton. Coral Glades will face Nova High School next on Thursday, February 26 at 4:30 p.m.
