The postseason officially began with four teams in Coral Springs competing and one school winning a title.
Coral Springs High School won a District Championship following a pair of wins in the tournament. After going 9-7 during the regular season, the Colts earned the top spot and had a bye in the opening round.
They went on to beat Boynton Beach High School 25, 18, 25- 18, 25- 22 in the Semi-Finals behind 23 kills from Jackson Jobi. Miguel Jumpp and Fabrico Monaco each added six, Jayden Thomas had 20 digs, and Mickinson Jean-Mary recorded 38 assists.
In the final, CSHS beat Atlantic High School 20-15, 25-16, 25-20, 25-18, with Jobi adding 24 more kills. Monaco had nine, with both Jumpp and Princeton Munroe Jr adding five. Thomas again led the team in digs with 19, and Jean-Mary had 25 more assists.
The Colts will head to Regionals as the eighth seed and will play the 22nd-ranked team in the nation at Suncoast High School on Tuesday, May 6, at 7 p.m. The Chargers are 20-1 this year and also won the District Championship, while their only loss came against Mater Lakes Academy.
The winner of this game will play either Archbishop McCarthy or Pompano Beach High School, while Dr. Joaquin Garcia, Fort Lauderdale, St. Thomas Aquinas, and Dreyfoos School of the Arts are all qualified.
Coral Springs Charter knocked off Hallandale High School 25-21, 21-25, 25-23, 35-18 for their eighth win of the season after entering the District Championship as the fourth seed. Their run would end in the Semifinals following a 25-18, 25-8, 25-10 loss against Cardinal Gibbons High School, finishing the season 8-16.
J.P. Taravella was knocked out in the opening round, losing in five sets against Nova High School 24-26, 12-25,25-23, 25-23, 8-15. The Trojans were ranked third in the District and received a bye in the opening round before dropping their last match and ending their season 10-6
Coral Glades was seeded fifth and played South Plantation High School 25-16, 25-23, 25-19 in their first playoff game. The Jaguars finished the season 5-12 with their victories coming against Charles W Flanagan, Hallandale, Plantation, Boyd H. Anderson, and Coconut Creek High School.
