
Coral Springs High School Boys Volleyball. {David Volz}
High School volleyball and flag football is underway in Coral Springs, with several teams facing off early in the season.
The Coral Springs High School dropped its first volleyball match but beat Coral Glades 25-15, 25-11, 25-19 behind 14 kills from Jackson Jobi. He also added four assists, and three players had at least two blocks. Jayden Thomas finished with 15 digs, and Dickinson Jean Mary recorded 27 assists.
CSHS will play Deerfield Beach High School in their next matchup on Monday, March 17, against Deerfield Beach High School at 4:30 p.m. The Bucks went 9-11 and lost in four sets against the Colts last season.
The Coral Glades boys volleyball team is winless this year after losing in three sets to Cooper City High School. Daniel Burton led the team with five kills and three blocks against the Colts, while Deion Henderson had three. Kyle Fernandes, David Ngo, and Dominic Sorrentino all had one kill. Sorentono also added eight kills, with Gustavo Suarez recording nine assists.
The Jaguars lost against Marjory Stoneman Douglas on Monday, falling to 0-3. They will play Hallandale High School on Monday, March 17, at 4:30 p.m. The Chargers are 0-1 this year and lost to Monarch High School in their first matchup this year.
Earlier this season, J.P. Taravella also had a rivalry match and beat Coral Springs Charter 25-16, 25-19, 24-26, 25-19 for their first win but lost against Marjory Stoneman Douglas and Pembroke Pines Charter.
The Panthers previously had their first win against Avant Garde Academy but also lost to Trinity Christian Academy. Their team recently went 1-2 in tournament play before a four-set loss against Marjory Stoneman Douglas. CSC will play Pompano Beach High School on Monday, March 17, at 4:30 p.m. The Golden Tornadoes beat the Panthers in three sets during their matchup last year.

In flag football, Coral Glades defeated Coral Springs High School. They also have won 19-0 against St. John Paul II Academy, 18-0 and 26-0 against Archbishop McCarthy High School, 41-0 against Flanagan High School, and 9-0 against Monarch High School, behind a pick-six from Noel Thomas. The Jaguars’ only loss this year came against Marjory Stoneman Douglas.
The Jaguars are set to play Hallandale High School in their next game on Monday, March 17, at 4:30 p.m. The Chargers are winless through their first four games this season.
Coral Springs High School is also winless and will play Coral Springs Charter in their next game on Wednesday, March 19, at 4:30 p.m. The Panthers began the season with a 6-0 win over Coconut Creek High School and beat Northeast High School 30-6 in their last game. Their only loss came to Nova High School, as they got five touchdown passes from Ali Rodriguez in their 41-0 win over Avant Garde Academy on Thursday. Eva Rodriguez caught two passes for scores, while Breanna Mazanex, Naliaia Conte, and Mia Luersenon all scored once.
J.P. Taravella is 2-3 this year following wins against Plantation and South Broward High School. They outscored their opponents 32-0 but lost against Cypress Bay Bay, South Plantation, and Fort Lauderdale High School. They have a bit of time off before facing Deerfield Beach High School on March 19 at 4:45 p.m
