The stakes have skyrocketed as the combined jackpots for the Powerball and Mega Millions lotteries have hit $1.3 billion.
The Powerball jackpot is poised at an estimated $750 million, ahead of tonight’s drawing, while the MEGA MILLIONS is at a whopping $560 million, leading up to Friday’s drawing.
To win the jackpot, players must match five white ball numbers and the special number – Power Ball for Powerball and Mega Ball for Mega Millions. The odds of winning any prize are approximately 1-in-24.9 for Powerball and 1-in-24 for Mega Millions.
Winners can receive their earnings as a lump sum or in 30 annual installments. For PowerballL, the lump-sum option is roughly $378.8 million; for Mega Millions, it’s about $281.1 million. Other lower-tier prizes are available, ranging up to $2 million and $5 million for Powerball and Mega Millions, respectively.
In Florida, Powerball has raised more than $2.68 billion for education since its launch in 2009, making it one of the top-selling states for the game. The state has had over 123.1 million winning tickets, totaling more than $3.59 billion in prizes, and has witnessed 16 jackpot winners.
Since its introduction in Florida in 2013, Mega Millions has generated over $1 billion for education and awarded the same amount in prizes to 72.3 million players.
Lottery enthusiasts can purchase tickets at over 13,500 Lottery retailers across the state for their chance to become Florida’s newest multi-millionaire.
Drawings can be viewed on the Florida Lottery’s website, its official YouTube channel, and numerous carrier stations statewide. The winning numbers are also available on the Lottery’s website, free mobile app, at statewide retailers, and by phone.
