Renaissance Charter School in Coral Springs was evacuated as a precaution Tuesday after haze was spotted on one side of the building, according to the Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department.
Fire crews responded around midday after reports of a “slight haze” affecting one side of the school at 6250 West Sample Rd., according to the department. Out of caution, administrators moved students and staff out of the building while firefighters investigated the cause.
By 1:10 p.m., fire officials determined the haze to be “unfounded” and declared the building safe, clearing the way for school activities to resume.
Fires have been burning in the Everglades west of Coral Springs since Aug. 18. Fire had burned through at least 42,000 acres of the Everglades as of Monday, authorities said.
