The Coral Springs Charter swim team boasts a strong group of talented athletes who are committed to year-round training and have consistently performed well in regional and state competitions.
They are also doing well in leadership activities and in the classroom. Claire O’Connor is a top freestyle swimmer who competed in the state championship last year. A senior, she has a 5.3 grade point average, serves as vice president of DECA, is president of the Science National Honor Society, and is a member of the National Honor Society. O’Connor wants to attend the University of Florida.
“I enjoy swimming and being on the team. I have made a lot of friends on the team,” she said.
Kennedy Kinggard swims freestyle and is a leader at Coral Springs Charter. A senior, she has a 4.6 grade point average and is a class senator. “I have been swimming for seven years and I have had many positive experiences,” she said.
Samantha Springer competes in backstroke and freestyle and competed in the state championships last year. She has a 5.0 grade point average, is a copy editor for the yearbook, and is a member of the National Honor Society. She enjoys being on the swim team and has made many friends over the years.
Coach Sheri Wells-Smith believes this year’s team will have a successful season. “We have a good team and many very dedicated swimmers,” she said.
