
Coral Springs Charter Swim Team. {David Volz}
Cross country and swim season is officially over, following several teams competing at the State Championship.
The J.P. Taravella boys team began the postseason dominantly, winning the District Championship and then coming in sixth at Regionals. They competed at the State Championship and finished 32nd, led by Akeem Beckford, with a time of 17.24.7. Scardy Fills was next to finish for the Trojans, followed by Elijah Vessels, Craig Dennis, Dominic Martinez, and Jarhree Pierre.
Coral Springs Charter made history with the girls’ team finishing sixth at Regionals to qualify for State. It was the first time the Panthers had ever qualified as a team, and then they finished ninth overall. Kendall Parrott placed 27th in the state at 19:44.5, running along with Alyson Thomas, Lily Richardson, Cecilia Kozlowski, Sydney McDougall, Hailey Lockwitz, and Mackenzie Maniscalco. Jeffrey Belizaire and Olivia Higgins each ran individually for Coral Springs High School, with Belizaire finishing 42nd and Higgins placing 143rd.
In swim, J.P. Taravella had their boys 200 freestyle relay and girls 400 freestyle relay teams swim, while Coral Springs Charter had ten swimmers qualify with John Albornoz, Christopher Chaison, Brian Hamilton, Anthony Palumbo, Mariana Montes, Alejandra Gil-Restrepo, Claire O’Connor, Addison Palumbo, Amanda Robins, and Sam Springer.
