Olivia Higgins is the top runner on the Coral Springs High School girls’ cross-country team and is looking forward to the upcoming season.
A talented and dedicated athlete, Higgins has a 4.9 grade point average and enjoys studying Spanish and history. Last year, she competed in the cross-country state championship meet, and during the spring, she participated in the state championship track and field meet, earning third place in the 800-meter run.
“I love running and my goal is to compete in the cross-country state championship again this year,” said Higgins, a junior and a Coral Springs resident.
Matt Wykpisz is the leading runner for the Coral Springs High boys’ cross-country team. He is one of the top high school runners in the area and competed in the cross-country regional meet last year. He also runs the mile and two miles for the track and field team. His favorite academic subject is national government.
“It takes discipline and teamwork to have a good cross-country team. My goal is to earn a medal at the state championship meet,” said Wykpisz, a senior and Margate resident.
Khiro Hoilett, the Coral Springs cross-country coach, is impressed with the talent and effort Higgins and Wkypisz are making as runners and said they should have successful seasons this fall.
