Three students from Sawgrass Springs Middle School in Coral Springs recently took the national stage at the 2025 National Speech and Debate Middle School Tournament in Iowa, representing their school in the prestigious competition for the very first time.
Hannah Glynn, Christian Corbell, and Justin Nation participated in the competition held from June 17 to 20. The tournament brought together more than 6,700 students from 1,300 schools nationwide, making it the largest interscholastic event of its kind.
Though the Sawgrass Springs team did not place this year, their coach, Dr. Linda Pierre, said the experience was an inspiring milestone for the young competitors.
“I am incredibly proud of these students,” said Pierre. “Their commitment and enthusiasm throughout the tournament were nothing short of remarkable. It was a valuable learning experience that has only deepened their passion for speech and debate.”
Pierre noted that the experience not only built their confidence but also strengthened their resolve to return to Nationals even stronger in the future.
“Their perseverance is a powerful reminder of the transformative impact opportunities like this can have on young lives,” she said.
