Comcast Volunteers Replace Dozens of Worn American Flags Across Florida in Operation Old Glory
June 26, 2025 • By Sharon Aron Baron
On Flag Day, June 14, a wave of patriotism swept through Florida as Comcast employees—many with military ties—fanned out across the state to honor the Stars and Stripes. Their mission: to replace weathered and tattered American flags with fresh ones, free of charge, as part of the company’s heartfelt initiative, Operation Old Glory.
Since its launch in 2017, the program has rallied thousands of volunteers—known as Flag Ambassadors—who donate their time to ensure American flags outside homes and businesses continue to fly proudly. Whether the flags are outside a customer’s residence or not, the service is available to anyone in the community.
This Flag Day weekend, Comcast teams replaced 72 flags across the Sunshine State, from the Gulf Coast to South Florida to the Panhandle.
Panama City resident and Army veteran Kym Mazzullo was one of the grateful recipients. A Comcast representative, Susan Hamuicka, introduced her to the program.
“I thought it was great that Comcast does something like this,” Mazzullo said. “I really needed a new flag, so it was very helpful. I had been postponing going to the store to get a new one, but mine was torn and I had to take it down. I’m so glad to have a new flag flying on Flag Day!”
Volunteers covered cities big and small, including Fort Myers, Miami Gardens, Jacksonville, and Panama City. In front yards and outside local businesses, they respectfully retired damaged flags and hoisted up new ones, symbolizing their ongoing commitment to honor the American spirit and those who serve.
