It was a “beary” special day for first-grade students from Parkside Elementary as they brought their beloved teddy bears to Broward Health Coral Springs for the hospital’s annual Teddy Bear Clinic.
The event, designed to help children feel more comfortable in a healthcare setting, received a special boost from a surprise guest: Florida Panthers mascot Stanley C. Panther, who greeted the children and their plush companions with high-fives and hugs.
In the check-up area, doctors and nurses from Broward Health rolled out the red carpet for the teddy bears, giving each one a full examination. The pretend patients were treated with X-rays, Band-Aids, medicine, and plenty of cuddles.
The Teddy Bear Clinic is a hands-on way to teach young children about health care in a fun and stress-free environment, a perfect prescription for happiness and health.
