TGI Fridays in Coral Springs {Google Maps}
The familiar red-and-white stripes of TGI Fridays have disappeared from University Drive. After more than two decades of serving burgers, ribs, and cocktails to locals, the restaurant beside Coral Square Mall has permanently closed, according to its Google business listing.
The closure of the once-bustling restaurant at 855 N. University Dr. adds to a string of setbacks for the once-dominant casual dining chain. It drew loyal customers for years, but shifting dining habits and industry pressures have steadily chipped away at its footprint.
The company’s struggles came to a head in 2024 when its parent firm filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, operating 164 restaurants at the time.
Less than 90 of the chain’s restaurants remain as it continues with its restructuring plans, according to media reports.
For Coral Springs, the closure marks the end of an era for a restaurant that was once a popular stop for family dinners, late-night drinks, and celebrations.
