A Tu B’Shvat program in Coral Springs combines tradition, reflection, and solidarity with Israel during an evening focused on the enduring bond between the Jewish people and the Land of Israel.
The event will feature a curated tasting of Israeli wines, artisanal cheeses, and fruits of Israel, highlighting the agricultural bounty of the Holy Land traditionally celebrated on Tu B’Shvat, the Jewish New Year for Trees.
The program will include a special guest speaker, Lt. Col. (Res.) Yaron Buskila, who will share a firsthand account of his experiences defending Israel during the Oct. 7 attacks and his more than 100 days of service in Gaza. According to organizers, Buskila fought against dozens of terrorists during the initial assault and will offer personal insights into the realities faced by Israeli soldiers.
Buskila served as a deputy brigade commander, a battalion commander, and the commander of the Southern Command infantry training base, and served as a special operations officer in Central Command, and was responsible for numerous classified operations conducted by the elite IDF unit in Judea and Samaria. The President of Israel awarded the unit he commanded a special merit certificate in recognition of all of its work and extraordinary achievements in the war against terrorism.
In addition, Buskila is expected to provide an overview of the military, political, and moral challenges Israel continues to face. His remarks will address how the conditions leading up to Oct. 7 developed and why the conflict remains unresolved years later.
The event will be held on Monday, Feb. 2, at 7 p.m. at the Chabad Jewish Center, located at 11325 W. Atlantic Blvd. Admission is $54 per person, with sponsorship opportunities available for $180. Register here.
