Chess players across Coral Springs will have the opportunity to test their skills at the upcoming King of Coral Springs Chess tournament, a free scholastic competition designed for students in kindergarten through 12th grade.
Hosted by the City of Coral Springs Parks and Recreation Department in partnership with the National Scholastic Chess Foundation, the tournament is open to aspiring players who are unrated or have a U.S. Chess Federation rating of 1100 or below.
Held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, the event will feature two age divisions: elementary school students ages 5 to 11 and middle and high school students ages 12 to 18.
The tournament will take place at Coral Springs Charter School Gymnasium, located at 3205 N. University Drive. Check-in begins at 8 a.m., followed by matches starting promptly at 9 a.m.
Participation is free, but all players must pre-register. Lunch will be provided for students competing in the tournament.
