Out of the 55 Broward County Public School students that were named semifinalists in the prestigious 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program, 12 were from Coral Springs and Parkland high schools.
These students from Marjory Stoneman High School and Coral Springs High School join approximately 16,000 students nationwide as semifinalists where National Merit Scholarship Corporation officials recognize high school seniors with the highest scores on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test who meet program requirements.
The National Merit Scholarship semifinalists will now continue in the competition to be named National Merit finalists – and ultimately National Merit Scholars. Finalists are eligible to compete for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships, with a combined worth of more than $33 million.
