Some of the top high school basketball teams in the country came to Coral Springs this weekend to compete in the Kruel Classic.
Coral Glades and Coral Springs High School hosted the tournament, with both schools placed in different brackets and finding success. Coral Glades won its first two games to advance to the championship, while Coral Springs High School rebounded after an opening loss to finish strong.
Coral Glades opened the tournament with a 67–59 win over Higley High School, led by 23 points from Kyler Theopile. Donovan Swain added 15 points, while Ethan Jeanlouis contributed six points and grabbed 10 rebounds. The Jaguars followed up with a 52–45 victory over Bishop Ireton to advance to the final. Their run ended in the championship game, where they fell by six points to Bergen Catholic High School of New Jersey.
Coral Springs High School began the tournament with a 66–52 loss to Holy Cross but bounced back with a 74–65 win over Waxahachie and a 57–52 victory against San Tan Charter.
Both teams return to action on Monday, December 29. Coral Glades will face Central Gwinnett High School at 4:30 p.m., while Coral Springs High School will take on East Coweta High School at 6 p.m.
