A Coral Springs Police officer was hospitalized after first being struck, then dragged, by a suspects car on Tuesday.
According to the statement by police, at 2:09 PM an officer wearing plain clothes, with his police insignia and badge stopped a white BMW sport utility vehicle at the 8200 block of Wiles Road. He made contact with a male driver and one male passenger and during their interaction, the detective was dragged by the vehicle. He discharged his firearm, and sustained non-life threatening injuries to his arms, hands, and legs. Â
No other parties – including the driver or passenger of the vehicle were injured during this encounter.Â
A precautionary lockdown was placed on nearby schools to ensure the safety of those present while our officers attempted to locate the subjects inside the white BMW. The driver was located in his vehicle a few blocks away and was taken into custody, without incident. Â
The passenger was found in another location nearby and was also taken into custody without incident. The suspects are being interviewed by CSPD investigators and both scenes are being processed by our Crime Scene Technicians.
Once treated and released, the investigators will gather more information from the injured officer.Â
