After being canceled due to the planned protests, the city says the show must go on. In the newly rescheduled Teen Political Forum, local high school students get a first-hand opportunity on how government works.
The online, educational event, planned and organized by high school students from Coral Glades, Coral Springs, Coral Springs Charter School, J.P. Taravella, and Marjory Stoneman Douglas, has been a staple in the city since it was created in 2007 by former Mayor Roy Gold.
Now led with guidance from Commissioner Larry Vignola and city staff, the event provides teens with an opportunity to address and engage in Q&A sessions with county and local elected officials.
Elected officials include the Coral Springs city commission, State Rep. Dan Daley, School Board Member Lori Alhadeff, and Broward County Commissioner Michael Udine.
Students can use #TeenPoliticalForum on Twitter to join the conversation on social media. Those who wish to ask questions are encouraged to send their questions in a video format using this form.
The Teen Political Forum will now be held on Tuesday, June 9, at 7 p.m live on CityTV, Blue Stream Channels 25, 25.2, 725, and AT&T U-Verse Channel 99.
