Artist Marilyn Johansen is featured at the Coral Springs Museum of Art where she honors our US Military through time and events based on her strong connections to the past.
Johansen’s father was a military Air Force fighter pilot who flew in WWII, Korea, the Cold War, and Vietnam. She is from “the world” as she lived from Brussels, Belgium to Okinawa to Georgia, Nevada, Colorado, Texas, and Florida following her father’s assignments.
Her husband was a Marine in Vietnam, and her nephew did a tour of duty in Afghanistan, and she has cousins currently serving in the military.
Johansen recently completed a painting of her Grandfather in The Great War (WWI). Her father was a POW in WWII, and she has paintings telling some of these POW stories.
These events are the paintings in her series “Soldier Stories” which will continue to grow as she reaches out to family and friends who wish to honor their family members and military service.
Very limited seating. Register here Eventbrite.com to listen to the Live Talk with Artist Marilyn Johansen in support of Coral Springs Museum of Art’s exhibit “100 Faces of War.” Held on Thursday, October 29, at 6:00 p.m.
