Coral Springs City Officials and other special guests held a ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony for the new Fire Station 71.
Fire Station 71 which was built in 1976, is the second oldest and second busiest station in Coral Springs. Initially, it was intended to service volunteer firefighters and, as a result, it was not built with the proper sleeping quarters, training space or equipment.
This new fire station will contain approximately 7,000 square feet in floor area, three bays, and state-of-the-art bi-fold doors. Additional space will be used to store protective equipment and for training. Construction began in January 2012 and was completed on schedule and under budget.
In attendance were: Commissioner Stacy Ritter, Lt Oscar Gomez, Bill Ellis VP of Pirtle, Fire Chief Mark Curran, Congressman Ted Deutch, Mayor Roy Gold, Commissioners Claudette Bruck, Larry Vignola, Vince Boccard and Tom Powers.
