Alex Christmas continues to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps after the Coral Springs High School pitcher announced he is furthering his baseball and academic career at Montreat College in North Carolina.
“It means a lot to officially commit,” said Christmas, who graduated in June. “Knowing that I am one step closer to my goal of making it to the MLB is a special feeling,”
His grandfather Lenny worked his way through the minor leagues and played in AAA ball. However, he never had a chance to play in the big leagues.
For Christmas, that has always been his goal since he was four years old.
Christmas pitched on the varsity baseball team for the past three years and had a record of 11-6 in 24 appearances. His best season came as a sophomore after he went 7-2, and pitched to a 1.47 ERA with five complete games. He also had 33 at-bats during his senior year and hit .333 with a double and ten RBI’s.
“My time here was great,” said Christmas.” I had the chance to compete versus some of the best talent in Florida and threw some great games along the way.”
Christmas, who lives in Coral Springs, says his decision to attend Montreat was mostly based on his visit in November. Between the reputation and the coaching staff, Christmas thought the decision was an easy one.
Montreat won 21 games in 2021 and has produced nine players selected in the MLB Draft.
