It was another historic day for Coral Springs Charter, with the girls’ volleyball team winning the District Championship on Friday.
The Panthers defeated Pompano Beach High School 25-21, 25-16, 25-13 to win their second-ever District Championship. CSC previously earned its first in 2017 over Saint Andrews School 22-25, 25-22, 26-24, 25-20.
The victory was the Panthers’ 19th of the season in 23 matches, which matches their win total from 2019. Their last loss came after a terrific run into the Big Eight Championship, where CSC fell by two points in the final set to St. Thomas. Aquinas High School on October 13.
CSC started the season 9-1 and then had another six-match winning streak to begin the month of October. They defeated North Broward Preparatory School in the District tournament after earning a bye in the first round.
It has been a trendies season offensively for Alexandra Bruno and Olivia Panico. The two have combined for over 300 kills this season. Bruno also leads the team in aces, while Panico has the most blocks.
In their win over the Eagles, Sarah Henault recorded her 200 dig of the year. Sydney Mills also has been terrific for the Panthers as the setter. Caroline Worley, Katelyn Bilz, Sydney Mills, Sidney Berthiaume, Allyson Gates, Britney Stella, Caroline Worley, and Julia Dicaprio have been other notable players for Coral Springs Charter.
Next, the Panthers will try to win their first regional championship in school history and advance to States.
