Children and young adults with special needs are invited to spend the morning with fire and police personnel, learn about the equipment and explore our emergency vehicles.
On Saturday, April 9, from 10:00 a.m. to noon, all children and young adults with special needs, regardless of the city they reside, are welcome to attend the event held at Cypress Hammock Park 1300 Coral Springs Dr.
The Department of Motor Vehicles will be on-site to give Disability Designation on state ID Cards.
The DMV requires this form DMV Form to be signed by a physician before arrival. They also can Update Emergency Contact information, renew/replace or change the name or address on an ID card, renew/replace vehicle registration, or accessible parking placards. Fees vary on the service provided.
The police department has a database of children and young adults with special needs to assist first responders if an individual goes missing. Parents and guardians are encouraged to register their loved ones, especially those prone to wander. This portion of the event will only be available for those who live or attend school in the City of Coral Springs.
