Each year the Coral Springs Fraternal Order of Police provides scholarships to assist the children of law enforcement members in their effort to attend college.
Six high school seniors were awarded scholarships totaling $5,000. This year’s winners are Kalin Hubbard – St. Thomas Aquinas, Daniel Fernandez – Coral Glades, Brandon Wilkins – Palm Beach Central, Carter Rosenberg – Coral Springs Charter, Kennedy Mulvey – Coral Springs Charter, and Madison Mulvey – Coral Springs Charter.
Held at Sartory Hall in Mullins Park, the theme of the essay was, “What do you see as the biggest challenge in law enforcement today, and how to overcome it.”
Police Lodge 87, a non-profit organization, is comprised of law enforcement officers serving the city of Coral Springs. Criteria for a scholarship included residing in Coral Springs – or being the child or grandchild of an FOP Lodge 87 member, maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.0, acceptance into a college or university, majoring in a criminal justice field, and students must have a clean background.
