2023 MLK Scholarship Award Winners. {City of Coral Springs}

The Coral Springs Martin Luther King Jr. Committee has announced the recipients of this year’s MLK Scholarships, a prestigious award given to 12 deserving high school seniors.
These scholarships, to be utilized during the upcoming 2023-2024 academic year, aim to support financially disadvantaged local students who embody the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., particularly in the areas of peace, racial harmony, community service, and uplifting the lives of others.
The outstanding students were honored during the Coral Springs City Commission Meeting on May 17.
Joshua Simmons, the Coral Springs Commissioner and the liaison for the MLK Committee, expressed his unwavering admiration for the student’s involvement in their community.
“The students honored with this year’s MLK Scholarships are the leaders of tomorrow,” said Simmons. “They actively engage in their community, address significant issues that affect their generation, and fearlessly advocate for equality and human rights. I am incredibly proud of these young residents, and I wish them continued success in their pursuit of higher education.”

The MLK Scholarships not only recognize academic excellence but also emphasize the importance of social responsibility and activism among the youth. The recipients have demonstrated exceptional dedication to creating positive change and fostering harmony within their community, aligning perfectly with the principles championed by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
All student recipients completed a scholarship application process, and chances for being awarded were increased if the student performed an act of humanity or community service that touched the lives of one or more persons. Scholarship funds go toward the 2023-2024 academic year. Monies will be awarded to the educational institutions that they will be attending.
