A Coral Springs woman, who had fallen asleep intoxicated on the toilet, faces charges of domestic assault after allegedly biting her victim, who had woken her and attempted to guide her to bed.
On December 3, the Coral Springs Police Department responded to a distress call at a residence located near the 9300 block of Ramblewood Drive, in which a victim reported a domestic incident involving injuries.
According to the police report, officers arrived at approximately 4:55 a.m., where they encountered the victim, who detailed how Laura Fritter, 36, of Coral Springs, had attacked him and his stepdaughter in a drunken rage.
The victim told officers that Fritter had been drinking heavily throughout the night and had fallen asleep on the toilet in the master bedroom bathroom.
The victim claimed that when he attempted to wake her and guide her to bed, an argument ensued, escalating into a violent assault during which his stepdaughter attempted to intervene in an attempt to calm Fritter.
Records show the victim detailed how Fritter allegedly swung a punch at her daughter but missed. To prevent further harm, he attempted to restrain her on the bed, but during the struggle, he was bitten on his right forearm, causing a fresh bite mark with visible tooth impressions and new blood.
The victim told officers the violence continued, as Laura reportedly continued her assault by striking him in the right eye after he ran to exit the apartment and contacted the police for assistance.
Upon the officers’ arrival, they observed visible injuries on the victim, including a bruised right eyelid and redness around the eye area consistent with being struck. The police report also confirms that the victim had a fresh bite mark on his right forearm.
The stepdaughter corroborated his account of the incident, stating that she entered the room after hearing yelling, then witnessed her aggressive behavior and intervened, only to become attacked herself.
Fritter was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
