Vice Mayor Shawn Cerra, who has dedicated 30 years of his life as an educator in Coral Springs, was honored during the Miami Dolphins game against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.
Throughout his career, Cerra worked in various positions, such as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal at J.P. Taravella. He also held the position of BCAA Director of Athletics.
During the game, Cerra, who his family accompanied, was presented with a Miami Dolphins jersey to honor his service in the field of education.
He says it was humbling to be able to be recognized and considers himself lucky to be able to serve the community for over 30 years.
“I have so many people who contributed to my success, and the Miami Dolphins were one of them,” Cerra said. “By inviting my family and me to the game while celebrating my career and my work was not only a special day, but also a family memory I will never forget.”
Cerra told Coral Springs Talk that he would also like to thank  RaShauna Hobbs-Hamilton, Senior Director of Community Relations and Youth Programs; Ann Hake Director, Community Relations; Ashley Gillis Manager, Community Relations; Aaron Harris Manager, Youth Programs; Kiley Johnson, Coordinator, Youth Programs, and Adrian Jordan Coordinator, Community Relations for their support over the years.
