Jose Izaguirre Ordonez {BSO}
A man has been arrested in connection with a home invasion and false imprisonment incident in which he allegedly held his ex-girlfriend at knifepoint.
According to arrest records, Jose Izaguirre Ordonez, 29, of Margate, was arrested on January 3 by Coral Springs Police, with the assistance of the Margate Police Department, in response to a warrant for his arrest.
According to records of the warrant, the arrest stems from a December 6 incident during which Ordonez reportedly forced his way into the home of his ex-girlfriend, assaulted her, and threatened her with a knife.
According to the victim, she had recently ended her on-again, off-again relationship with Ordonez after discovering his infidelity. She recounted to police how this upset him, and he became further enraged about being blocked on her phone.
On the day of the attack, the victim told officers she had been expecting her therapist to arrive at her home. When she heard a knock at the door, she opened it to find Ordonez, who pushed himself inside her home by force, punching her, dragging her by her hair, and issuing threats while holding a knife.
At one point, he reportedly held a pocket knife to her chest and said, “Do you have a heart? Let me find out.”
During the ordeal, Ordonez also damaged the victim’s phone by stabbing it with his knife in an attempt to prevent her from calling for help and rifled through her belongings while her child was present in the home.
The victim told police that Ordonez eventually left after she attempted to de-escalate the situation, locking the door behind him and calling 911 once she felt safe enough to do so.
Police arrived to find the victim visibly shaken and injured, with bruises on her arms and other physical signs of assault. She was transported to Broward Health Coral Springs for medical evaluation.
Ordonez was taken into custody on January 3 in Margate near the 6300 block of Southgate Boulevard. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
No record of bond information for Ordonez was available at the time of publication.
