A broad coalition of workers, unions, and community groups will hold a Labor Day rally in Coral Springs as part of a nationwide mobilization demanding “Workers Over Billionaires.”
The demonstration, scheduled for Monday, September 1, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at West Sample Road and North University Drive, is one of more than 1,000 events organized by the May Day Strong Coalition nationwide. The coalition states that the actions aim to counter corporate influence in government and advocate for fully funded schools, healthcare for all, and protections for workers, immigrants, and marginalized communities.
“On this Labor Day, we recognize and resist against a system that only works well for the top 1% while leaving the rest of America behind,” organizers said in a statement, adding that the rally will also stand in solidarity with LGBTQ communities.
The Coral Springs event will bring together labor unions, educators, immigrants, students, and families across South Florida. Organizers said the day of action builds on recent nationwide demonstrations, including “Hands Off in April” and “Good Trouble.”
