This December we will be cutting the ribbon for the brand-new Omni Hotel at the Broward County Convention Center. The new hotel will provide over 800 rooms that will serve to attract conventions from around the world. With 120,000 square feet of versatile event space and onsite restaurants, the new hotel is a game-changer for our community. It will have a significant economic impact on Broward County and provide many job opportunities for residents as well. To learn more about the new hotel visit: https://www.ftlauderdalecc.com/venue-info/omni-hotel/.
In November, Broward County launched the Sand Bypass Project which has been a goal for nearly 30 years. This restoration project will protect Broward County’s shoreline for future generations by removing excess sand on the north side of Port Everglades Inlet and move it to the south side where beaches have been eroding. It will also protect sea turtle nesting habitats, and recreational areas that are currently at risk. This plan will also make improvements to recreational areas and an artificial reef. The project is a partnership between Federal, State, and Local governments, and will be completed in 2027. Finally, my family and I would like to wish everyone who celebrates, a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Happy Kwanzaa. From parades to tree lightings, and even events for man’s best friend like Paws and Claus Holiday Paw-Ty in Tamarac, you have many options to make great family memories! For another great tradition, be sure to check out the Holiday Fantasy of Lights at Tradewinds Park! All the details for these great events can be found at broward.org or your local city’s web page. No matter which holiday you celebrate, I hope you enjoy a nice break, and time with those you care about. See you in the New Year!
